International One Metre Class - Since first promoted in 1989 this class has become the most numerically popular class in the World. The rules specify three fixed sail plans, a minimum total weight, and other factors, such as limits of carbon fibre in rig and hull, so as to provide a freedom of hull design shape with controls on rig.
The rule’s name comes from the simple fact that the boats are one metre long maximum.

Shipmate 36” - a South African strictly controlled one design class - i.e. ALL boats are identical, except for their skippers.
The boats are 914mm (36inches) long and have three suits of sails for varying wind conditions.
These boats are easy to transport and are available in kit form at reasonable cost without the radio gear.
